The 48th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum WEF in Davos was a success. The authorities of the Canton Grisons are pleased that the event was peaceful and draw a positive conclusion. Despite enormous amounts of snow that held up traffic initially, the Canton Grisons and Davos as hosts once again provided ideal conditions for the annual meeting. The visit of U.S. President Donald Trump represented one of the highlights of this year's meeting.

Based on the current security situation, heightened control activities were put in place in the runup to the meeting for all security forces. The presence of U.S. President Donald Trump as well as numerous other heads of state posed additional challenges for the authorities. All measures proved effective as there were no security-related incidents, and cooperation with the American Secret Service was smooth.
This year's annual meeting of the WEF was very well attended. In addition to a large number of personalities from business, politics, and science, many heads of state and government representatives also traveled to Davos. Five of the seven members of the Swiss Federal Council took the opportunity for talks within this national and international environment. At the same time, various members of the Cantonal Government of the Canton Grisons met with representatives from the business community as well as numerous representatives of other cantons and the Swiss Confederation.
The Canton Grisons and the alpine city of Davos underscored their importance as a convention venue while further promoting Switzerland’s reputation as a safe and peaceful location for dialogue and exchange of views. Both the enhanced control activities by the security forces and increased police presence enjoyed acceptance among WEF participants as well as the local populace. The Government of the Canton Grisons notes with satisfaction that the challenges were mastered and the entire week was peaceful and quiet.
The World Economic Forum in Davos is possible only with the support of the numerous partners and the local populace. The WEF Committee for the Government of the Canton Grisons would thus like to take the opportunity to thank all cantons, the participating cities as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein for their generous contribution to the security mission surrounding the WEF. Thanks also goes to the security forces of the Cantons Zurich and Berne for the additional challenges as a result of demonstrations and increased air traffic. Finally, this thanks extends as well to all security forces of the police, the armed forces, and the border guard.
